The BRB, located in downtown Miami, will provide a permanent home for two internationally recognized research programs at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine: the Miami Institute for Human Genomics, and the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute. The facility features 20,000 SF of Vivarium space for both large and small animals, a Class 10,000 cGMP manufacturing lab, BSL II Wet labs, a 20,000 lb bulk sterilizer, a -80 degree freezer farm, case wash quarantines, instrument rooms, an imaging suite with MRI, C/T and Catheterization Lab, flexible office space, and a conference center.
Kewaunee worked with the Architect and Construction Manager to accommodate the needs of the various disciplines using the Alpha System with suspended metal casework and vertical services. The vertical services included plumbing, electrical and data thus freeing up counter space for instrumentation and general work space. Storage and additional
